Once and a awhile we get a great pleasure in rediscovering great addon treasures for this game, many have long been forgotten, but add a fun something to this Great Game. Mungari Islands 0.5 by Scorpion [

Link 2] is one of those forgotten treasures. Made at the end of 2004, this island is has both desert and jungle elements. It even has caves and rock bunkers. It's probably the about the best made jungle/desert map out there. The fact that Scorpion made extensive use of
BAS' Tonal + OPFOR objects should tell us that it is quite a bit different and interesting map.

There are many jungle maps made for OFP, many for Vietnam War mods. We know that most jungles and tropical areas contain heavy brush and trees, along with swamps. The majority of these maps fall far short of representing the thick growth of a jungle in a tropical area. Players are still in the prone position in open areas and roadways. Scorpion the map maker gives us a realistic blend of forests, trees, scrubs and grasses that repent well a jungle -- and realistic concealment areas from enemies. Snipers would also like the rolling hills and towers of jungle bases. Special forces attacks and ambushes are also fun and interesting in the jungles of Mungari.

The jungles blend into deserts and deserts have well made oases that add a nice touch to the desert portions of the map. There is also an oil refinery and caves and rocks to hide in near the town of Liciro, which could be fun to lay a siege and conquer from enemies. The oil refinery must be defended from Rebel terrorists and the Rebel terrorists hide in the caves. The map fits well with the Rebels versus Government forces of Tonal, where the government can have the desert and the Rebels the jungles. Mungari Airport in the south desert part is the default AI airport, but Sungo Base was designed to be a Government military base.
If you like playing jungles and deserts, this might be your final, go-to map, or at least it will be a new and higher standard of maps and islands for your game.
